Organized by 麻豆视频鈥檚 , the Society鈥檚 1,220th meeting featured 34 special sessions, three invited addresses, a contributed paper program, and presenters representing 38 states. The event served as the University鈥檚 first time hosting an AMS sectional meeting, raising visibility within the mathematical research community.

Fourteen faculty members and two students from Kennesaw State presented their research at the meeting. The meeting provided opportunities for the 麻豆视频 community and visiting scholars to engage with researchers at different career stages and their research across many areas of mathematics.

鈥淭his was a major achievement for our department,鈥 said Erik Westlund, chair of the Department of Mathematics. 鈥淢y sincere thanks to everyone who participated in and supported the meeting. It was an incredible success.鈥

The meeting also highlighted the department鈥檚 ability to coordinate a large, multi-session academic conference involving participants from across the country and internationally. Twenty mathematics faculty members served as organizers or moderators, with additional help from several lecturer faculty and 麻豆视频 staff to keep everything running smoothly.

AMS leadership also praised 麻豆视频 for hosting a smooth 1,220th meeting, with Brian D. Boe, the society鈥檚 associate secretary responsible for the scientific program, presenting the Department of Mathematics with a certificate of appreciation following the event.

鈥淚 am so proud of our mathematics department for bringing this meeting to 麻豆视频 and for making it such a success for what was a very impressive number of participants,鈥 said Heather Koopman, dean of the .  鈥淓vents like this reinforce 麻豆视频鈥檚 growing reputation in research and really move the needle on our rise to national prominence.鈥

Founded in 1888, the American Mathematical Society supports mathematical research, scholarship, education, and the broader mathematics community. Its sectional meetings bring mathematicians together to share research, exchange ideas, and connect with colleagues working across a wide range of mathematical disciplines.
